Simply,
asthma in children is called as childhood asthma. When translated in a
medical language, it is called Asthmatic Bronchitis. Again, it simply
means a kind of bronchitis, which is asthmatic in nature.
It will be important to know what does asthma mean, in the first place.
Asthma means panting (breathlessness), in |
Greek. In reality,
asthma is more then panting. For example, if you exert yourself with
intense exercise, you feel panting, but that is not asthma. Asthma means
breathlessness due to the constriction of the respiratory tubes. The
constriction of the large and small tubes of the lung may be because of
the spasm caused by certain factors, discussed separately on this page.
Aetiology (cause)
Development of asthma is multifactorial and depends on interaction
between multiple susceptibility genes and environment factors. Evidence clearly implicates household (dust mites , cockroach, pet) and other environmental (pollen) allergens in disease development in older children and adults. Air pollution is not definitively linked to disease but can trigger exacerbations.
Asthma also has been linked to perinatal factors such as young maternal age, poor maternal nutrition, prematurity, low birth weight, and lack of breast feeding. Signs and Symptoms:
Patients with mild intermittent or mild persistent asthma are typically asymptomatic between exacerbations. Those with more severe disease or those with exacerbations experience dyspnoea, chest tightness, audible wheezing, and coughing; coughing maybe the only symptoms in many patients.
Symptoms can worsen during sleep, often around 4 am. Many with more severe disease suffer nocturnal awakenings (nocturnal asthma) Homoeopathic Approach
Homoeopathic treatment is strongly recommended in Asthma. Homoeopathic medicines act by:
Relieving the symptoms
Preventing exacerbations (attacks)
Controlling and curing the disease process
Relieving the symptoms:
Homoeopathic medicines offer considerable relief symptoms of asthmatic patients like dyspnoea, chest tightness, audible wheezing, and coughing. Preventing exacerbations (attacks):
Homoeopathic medicines prevent any exacerbations at fist prolonging the time between episodes and later preventing their occurrence leading to permanent cure. Controlling and curing the disease process:
Homoeopathic medicines offer permanent cure in asthma they act by enhancing the individual’s immune response against allergens, thus producing stronger immunity so as to decrease the diffuse airway inflammation caused by a variety of triggering stimuli.
Asthmatic development is multifactorial and depends upon interaction between susceptible genes and environmental factors. Thus homoeopathy with its deep acting constitutional remedies offers excellent results. Our medicines have not to be taken for life time. Once cured the patients develops immunity towards the triggering stimulus which is maintained even after medication is stopped.
Do I have to continue medicine all my life?
Homoeopathy cures the patient permanently and once the patient is fully cured medicines are stopped.

Special diet consultations are offered in asthma which helps in controlling the disease once the individual is cured he/she is welcome to pamper their taste buds.
